Productive WP2 Workshop in Frankfurt am Main
A dedicated workshop for Work Package 2 (WP2) of the SUNRISE Alliance took place last week, bringing together representatives from partner universities. The meeting was hosted by European University Cyprus at its branch in Frankfurt am Main, creating a conducive environment for collaborative work and strategic discussions.
Approximately 30 participants attended the workshop, including representatives of Džemal Bijedić University, who participated online.
Focus and Scope of WP2
WP2 plays a central role in ensuring that the alliance’s shared values are embedded in the day-to-day activities of its member institutions. The work package focuses on:
- the implementation of a common virtual campus supporting teaching, research, and administrative processes,
- strengthening mechanisms for sharing good practices and exchanging information among administrative staff,
- enhancing the resilience of SUNRISE Alliance members through improved structures, communication, and internal processes.
These areas form part of the alliance’s broader quality assurance and enhancement strategy, supported by transparent governance and regular evaluation.
Workshop Activities
The program included both plenary sessions, addressing the overall framework of WP2, and working group meetings, during which participants discussed specific sub-tasks and performance indicators. Key topics included:
- the training needs of university staff across the alliance,
- functionalities and development priorities for the Staff Academy platform,
- alignment of WP2 actions with the mission and long-term vision of the SUNRISE initiative.
Outcomes and Next Steps
The workshop led to the development of guidelines and proposals aimed at tailoring training opportunities and digital tools to the needs of academic and administrative staff. These outcomes are expected to support competence development in areas such as teaching, research, and professional growth across SUNRISE institutions.
Appreciation is extended to all participants for their contributions, and to European University Cyprus for hosting the meeting in Frankfurt am Main.
