Mostar to Host SUNRISE Networking Conference – Spotlight on European University Alliances

On June 11, 2025, the Džemal Bijedić University of Mostar will host the SUNRISE Networking Conference – the highlight of this year’s International Staff Week, taking place from June 9 to 13. Held at the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering, the conference will focus on the role of European university alliances in transforming higher education, enhancing institutional capacity, and contributing to the European integration process.

The event will bring together participants from Bosnia and Herzegovina and abroad – including rectors, international project coordinators, and government representatives.

The opening session will feature welcoming remarks from Džemal Bijedić University of Mostar Rector Prof. Dr. Alena Huseinbegović, Suad Muhibić, Director of the Erasmus+ Office in Bosnia and Herzegovina, and several officials from federal and cantonal ministries, as well as the SUNRISE project coordinator from the Technical University of Ilmenau.

The program includes presentations exploring the influence of alliances such as EUPeace and ACROSS on modernizing curricula and strengthening institutional resilience. A key part of the day will be a panel discussion titled “Impact of European University Alliances on Higher Education and Communities,” featuring prominent voices from academia, EU law, and international cooperation networks.

More than just a professional event, the SUNRISE Networking Conference offers a unique opportunity for dialogue, knowledge exchange, and new partnerships across borders.
