On the occasion of the 49th anniversary of its founding, operation, and development, the Dzemal Bijedic University of Mostar implemented a comprehensive ceremonial program. The celebration encompassed a series of academic, scientific, cultural, promotional, and sporting activities, involving faculty members, associates, students, staff, and numerous distinguished guests.

The program commenced with a formal reception for retired University employees, expressing gratitude to the generations whose dedicated work contributed to the institution’s growth. On the same day, floral tributes were laid at the memorial bust of Dzemal Bijedic and the memorial of Midhad Hujdur Hujka, honoring these historical figures of Mostar and Bosnia and Herzegovina.

As part of the festivities, the University’s publishing activity for the year 2025 was presented. The exhibition featured monographs, university textbooks, proceedings, serial publications, and other scientific and professional editions, showcasing the results of continuous efforts to enhance scientific production and the visibility of research activities.

The central event of the program was the Ceremonial Session of the University Senate, held in the presence of representatives from the academic and social communities. The session provided an overview of the work and achievements of the past period, including the modernization of study programs, quality assurance activities, the development of international cooperation, project implementation, and infrastructural investments. A special segment of the session was dedicated to the presentation of University awards and recognitions for excellence in scientific, teaching, and professional work, as well as for contributions to the University’s development and affirmation.

The anniversary also featured the promotion of new Doctors of Science at the Dzemal Bijedic University of Mostar, confirming the continued development of the third cycle of studies and the strengthening of the institution’s research capacity.

Furthermore, the program included a presentation of scientific research and international projects currently implemented at the University in collaboration with domestic and foreign partners. The presentations highlighted results achieved to date, research areas, and plans for future project activities, emphasizing their significance for the development of both the University and the wider community.

The anniversary celebrations also included a graduation ceremony, marking the completion of an educational cycle for new generations of students.

The commemoration featured a sporting segment as well. A table tennis tournament was organized to mark the University’s anniversary, alongside an exhibition match between staff and students, further fostering a sense of unity within the academic community.

The program of the 49th anniversary concluded with the screening of the documentary film “Legacy of Vision – Prof. Dr. Safet Krkić” at the National Theater Mostar.

Throughout all events, the University’s membership in the SUNRISE Alliance was emphasized, highlighting the importance of this partnership for internationalization, mobility, the development of academic initiatives, and the strengthening of the University’s position within the European higher education area.
