Successful Completion of the BIP EUC PhD & Young Researchers Academy

European University Cyprus successfully hosted the BIP EUC PhD & Young Researchers Academy, held from 21-25 September 2026 in Nicosia, focusing on Health & Digital Health and Digitalization & Industry 4.0.

The five-day program brought together 25 PhD candidates and young researchers from SUNRISE Alliance partner universities, as well as from other universities, creating a dynamic international environment for research training, professional development, networking and intercultural exchange.

Participants took part in a wide range of workshops and interactive sessions on research career development, entrepreneurship, Horizon Europe funding opportunities, research proposal writing, AI/ML and Generative AI for researchers, scientific writing, data science and digital media literacy.

The Academy also highlighted the SUNRISE Alliance, with dedicated sessions introducing participants to the Alliance, its partner universities and opportunities for student engagement within SUNRISE.

Beyond the academic program, participants had the opportunity to experience Cypriot culture and gain a taste of the Greek language, while cultural visits and networking activities further strengthened the intercultural dimension of the Academy.

A strong emphasis was also placed on practical engagement through an entrepreneurial pitch competition, poster presentations and Meet the Experts sessions, enabling participants to present ideas, exchange perspectives and build new academic and professional connections.

The Academy concluded with a reflective session on the challenges of academic life, followed by the presentation of certificates and participation in the Researcher’s Night Fair.

The successful implementation of the BIP reflects European University Cyprus’ commitment to supporting emerging researchers, strengthening collaboration across the SUNRISE Alliance, and fostering meaningful connections within the wider European academic and research community.
