Sunrise Alliance Coordination Meeting Held at Università Politecnica delle Marche

On 17–18 February 2026, the Sunrise Alliance held its second coordination and monitoring meeting at Università Politecnica delle Marche in Ancona, Italy.

The meeting brought together representatives of the nine Sunrise partner universities from eight European countries. Around 150 participants — including students, researchers, academic staff, and administrative personnel — attended the sessions held at the Monte Dago campus.

Focus Areas

Discussions concentrated on the Alliance’s priority domains:

  • Agrofood
  • Bioeconomy
  • Energy transition
  • Sustainability and resilience
  • Digitalisation
  • Health

The objective of the meeting was to review progress, align ongoing activities, and monitor implementation across work packages, with particular attention to research collaboration and mobility mechanisms.

Mobility, Cooperation and Research

Partners reviewed ongoing measures to streamline academic and staff mobility within the Alliance, with the objective of making exchanges more efficient and easier to implement across institutions. Discussions focused on improving operational procedures, facilitating joint teaching activities, strengthening research collaboration, and enhancing the structured exchange of good practices.

Research cooperation was a central element of these discussions. In early 2026, Università Politecnica delle Marche, acting as partner or coordinator in 15 European projects, further reinforced collaborative work in areas closely aligned with Sunrise priorities — including ecological transition, sustainability, and environmental innovation. These projects contribute to strengthening thematic integration across the Alliance and supporting coordinated research development among partner universities.

Institutional Commitment

The meeting confirmed the operational capacity of the Alliance to coordinate activities across institutions and to advance joint objectives in research, education, and regional engagement.

The next coordination milestones will focus on strengthening structured cooperation between thematic areas and further integrating research and mobility activities within the Sunrise framework.
