University of Information Technology and Management in Rzeszow

The University of Information Technology and Management in Rzeszow – UITM (Wyższa Szkoła Informatyki i Zarządzania w Rzeszowie – WSIiZ), founded on March 8, 1996, is the largest private university in the Podkarpackie region of Poland. As of the 2023/24 academic year, it offers 16 undergraduate and postgraduate programs, conducted in Polish and English, across four colleges: Medical Sciences, Management, Applied IT, and Media and Social Communication. Additionally, UITM provides extensive postgraduate opportunities and is authorized to award doctoral and postdoctoral degrees in Communication and Media Studies, Medical Sciences, and Economics and Finance. The university hosts approximately 6,000 students, including 1,500 international students from over 50 countries, reflecting its multicultural character. 

WSIiZ originated as an extension of the Rzeszów School of Managers and the Association for Promotion and Entrepreneurship, with prof. Tadeusz Pomianek as its founder and current President. Initially, the university enrolled 2,500 students across three fields: Economics, IT, and Administration. UITM has been a pioneer in educational innovation, introducing electronic student IDs in 1999, international language certifications in the curriculum, and certified IT training programs. It has issued over 100,000 international certificates and was among the first Polish universities to offer online learning options starting in 2002. 

The university is consistently recognized for its excellence. In the U-Multirank 2022, UITM ranked first among 42 Polish universities and received “very good” ratings in 11 subcategories. It also ranks third among Polish universities in the UI GreenMetric global sustainability ranking. Its IT program earned a Certificate of Excellence in Education for outstanding support of student development, making UITM the first Polish university to receive this distinction. 

UITM conducts research in social, natural, and medical sciences, with notable projects in media studies, labor market analysis, financialization, and bioinformatics. In IT, the university focuses on artificial intelligence and network systems, while its Medical Faculty conducts research on the anticancer properties of plant extracts. International collaborations further enhance research on natural cosmetology, business models, and communication technologies, supported by funding from the National Science Centre and international academic partnerships.
